I am the Friday Girl at Ralphs 58. So often we hear about the recipients of volunteering or the volunteers themselves. I want to add an Atta-Team!for Ralphs 58. (Los Coyotes and Wardlow) These team members are the employees that watch out to make sure there is something for the volunteers to pick up. These are the employees that take time out of the already busy schedule to support the volunteers – literally for years.
When I first arrived I introduced myself to Charlie Guerrero, from Long Beach. He is in charge and is there to show me how to do “my job.” I show up between 8:00 and 9:00 and it is a lovely time to actually see what happens at the market. It is spotless. Everyone is making the market perfect for the shoppers. At the same time each department takes the time to check to see if they have something for Food Finders.
Every time I go, I talk to the person heading the various departments. Each time I see Debbie Cox from Lakewood, she asks me if I need help. Can I find the person from the Dairy Department? Did we get the “stuff that she pulled off inventory?” She just wanted to make sure we got it.
After I made my delivery, I went back to ask both Charlie and Debbie if they minded me writing for this blog. By then it was 10:00 a.m. As I asked them both for their last names they could hardly take a deep breath. They were so busy with the various tasks of a market that invisibly keeps it running smoothly. Made me even more appreciative of the time they spend to help me—and Food Finders.
I am sure there are a lot of employee atta-teams that Food Finders deals with everyday. While I personally go to Ralphs 58, I know that for every place Food Finders “finds” food there is a team of employees that support and get pleasure from their part supporting the recipients of this program. I just wanted to say, on behalf of volunteers and Food Finders, “Thank You.”
