Calling all Long Beach area architectural, engineering, contractor and design firms! The third annual CANstruction® Long Beach event to benefit Food Finders food rescue/food bank will take place on Thursday, September 21st beginning at 8am.
CANstruction® is a competition that seeks top designs and structures using canned goods and other non-perishable food items as building blocks. Teams are required to design and create 10’x 10’ x 10’H structures that exhibited to the public, judged, then dismantled and donated to approved agencies.
Teams with a minimum of five members must be led by a professional in the design/construction industry such as an architect, engineer, contractor or professor of any of these disciplines. The team entry fee is $395 and space is limited to seven teams. Final call for entries is July 31, 2017. Teams are responsible for acquiring all canned food used in their structure.
The official Call for Entries form can be found HERE.
The competition will take place at the Landmark Square Building lobby located at 111 West Ocean Avenue in downtown Long Beach on September 21st. Teams will have twelve hours to complete their structures. Judging will take place during the ten days the structures are on display, and awards will be presented to the winning teams following the dismantling of the structures. The structures will be on display to the public during regular business hours through Sunday, October 1st. Food Finders volunteers will dismantle the structures and transport all canned food to Food Finders warehouse in Lakewood on Monday, October 2nd to prepare for distribution.
