How can a child start their school week productively when they are hungry? Today, 72% of Long Beach Unified School District students and their families live below the poverty level. While subsidized meal programs at school help during the week, many of these school children start school on Monday with hunger overshadowing any focus on learning.
Food4Kids fills the hunger gap over the weekend. During the school year, Food Finders’ volunteers deliver non-perishable food weekly to 15 Title 1 designated schools in Long Beach–enough for more than 2,600 meals. The food supports some of the neediest children and their families, and is purchased or made possible through generous donations.
